The Group has identified local communities as a priority area in our activities to contribute to society.
Our employees work voluntarily and proactively to solve local issues and to contribute to the creation of prosperous communities.
Participation in local festivals, events, and volunteer activities
As a member of the local community, the Group actively participates in local festivals, events, volunteer campaigns, and other activities, while also supporting employees' participation in activities that contribute to society.
Group members The Bank of Yokohama and Higashi-Nippon Bank have set up work-life balance support leave programs that allow employees to participate in community or volunteer activities. The Bank of Yokohama also provides opportunities for volunteer activities and a system that rewards employees' participation in volunteer activities with points that can be used for employee benefit services.
Employee blood donation
Kanagawa Prefecture, with its large population, tends to experience shortages in the blood supply. Blood donation is an important initiative to support safety and medical care in regional communities.
Group member the Bank of Yokohama conducted a blood donation campaign at the Bank of Yokohama head office to contribute to the stability of the local medical system. Approximately 70 employees participated in the campaign as a familiar social contribution activity.
Volunteer water hand-out at the Yokohama Marathon
The Yokohama Marathon is a large-scale athletic event hosting over 20,000 runners. Employees of Group member the Bank of Yokohama take part as volunteers handing out water and supporting the event.
Bank of Yokohama Ice Arena
Since 2015, Group member the Bank of Yokohama has held naming rights to the Kanagawa Skating Rink. The Bank engages in collaborative activities with the Yokohama Sport Association.
Since 2022, the Bank has held classes for parents and children in a program friendly to beginning skaters. The participation fees for these classes are donated to the Yokohama City Children's Sports Fund, contributing to creating an environment in which children with disabilities can take part in local sports activities.
Support for social participation by people with disabilities
Opportunities for people with disabilities to play an active role in the regional communities are still limited.
Group member the Bank of Yokohama supports Art de Vivre, a social welfare organization in Odawara City. The bank holds exhibitions of artwork created by facility users with disabilities at its head office and branches, as well as organizes sales events specifically for its employees.
The Hamagin Foundation for Promotion of Industry and Culture
Established in 1988 by Group member the Bank of Yokohama,The Hamagin Foundation for Promotion of Industry and Culture actively engages in industrial and cultural promotion activities to benefit local residents. Activities include overseas dispatch of employees of local small and medium-sized companies, publication of the cultural information magazine "My Way," holding The Hamagin Foundation Fureai Concert series, and operating the rental venue Hamagin Hall VIA MARE.
